At KDDI Europe we strongly believe in establishing strong and lasting agreements with our customers and stakeholders in our business. We constantly strive to offer the very highest quality service to our customers, which we seek to reinforce with effective guarantees and compliance.

Customers
We are committed to providing high quality, good value services which meet all applicable safety standards. We value the trust our customers place in us and will safeguard the information provided to us in accordance with relevant laws and contractual commitments.

Business Partners and Suppliers
We are committed to establishing mutually beneficial relations with our suppliers, customers and business partners. We aim to protect our property (including intellectual property) and respect the property of others. In our business dealings we expect our partners to respect our business principles.

Information Security and Data Protection
KDDI complies with the Data Protection legislation all the countries in which it operates.

Our Information Security Management (ISMS) Policy

Terms and Conditions
All our customers are provided with clear Terms and Conditions in relation to the Products and Services, which they purchase from KDDI. Wherever possible, these Terms and Conditions are approved by the local authorities, such as Ofcom, the Telecommunications Ombudsman Scheme and others.

Service Level Agreements
KDDI provides appropriate Service Level Agreements (SLAs) as integral parts of our service contracts. Customers can expect KDDI to abide by the terms of these SLAs.

Corporate Social Responsibility
We recognise our responsibility as a good corporate citizen. We build and maintain strong mutual relationships with our colleagues, customers, suppliers, shareholders and other stakeholders, including government and regulators, communities and society, and the environment. In recognition of our responsibilities and in line with our core values, we apply resources in developing our global community, environmental, ethics and health & safety policies. We also encourage our suppliers and our customers to take these issues into account.

Our business principles apply to all KDDI companies and to our employees and contractors. Where KDDI operates in conjunction with business partners, third parties or in joint venture arrangements where we do not have management control, we seek to promote the application of these business principles.

Standard of personal conduct
We conduct our operations with honesty, integrity and openness, and with respect for the human rights and interests of our employees. We respect the legitimate interests of all those with whom we have relationships.

Obeying the law
KDDI companies and our employees comply with the laws and regulations of the countries in which we operate.

Shareholders
We will conduct our operations in accordance with accepted principles of good corporate governance.

Employees
We are committed to providing a working environment in which employees can realise their full potential and contribute to business success. We are committed to diversity in a working environment where there is mutual trust and respect and where everyone is accountable for their actions and feels responsible for the performance and reputation of our company. We aim to recruit, employ and promote employees on the sole basis of their ability to fulfil the requirements of the job. We are committed to developing and enhancing each employee’s skills and capabilities. We will provide our employees with safe and healthy working conditions and practices. We monitor and report our health and safety performance.

Communications
We will communicate openly with all stakeholders within the bounds of commercial confidentiality and regulatory constraints. We will ensure that all announcements are accurate, fair, timely and understandable, taking into account applicable standards and regulations.

Business Integrity
We will not give or receive, directly or indirectly, bribes or other improper advantages for business or financial gain. No employee may offer, give or receive any gift or payment which is, or may reasonably be construed as being, a bribe. All gifts to employees over a minimum value will be disclosed and recorded.

Conflicts of Interest
All KDDI employees must avoid personal activities and financial interests that could conflict, or be perceived to conflict, with their responsibilities to the Company. KDDI employees must not seek gain for themselves or others through misuse of their positions. Any circumstances that could give rise to a potential conflict of interest must be disclosed in full to the Company and recorded.

Public Policy
We will promote and defend the Company’s legitimate business interests. We will co-operate with governments and other organisations, both directly and through bodies such as trade associations, in the development of proposed legislation and other regulations which may affect legitimate business interests. Gifts or donations to political parties and intervention in party political matters are prohibited.

Competition
We are committed to operating vigorously yet fairly and to supporting the development of appropriate competition laws. We will conduct our operations in accordance with the principles of fair competition.

The Environment
We are committed to making continuous improvements in the management of our environmental impact as part of our goal of developing a sustainable business. We work to promote environmental care and awareness with emphasis on the need to reduce energy consumption and waste production. We monitor and report on environmental management.

Compliance
Compliance with these Business Principles is essential to our business success. The KDDI Board is responsible for ensuring these Business Principles are communicated to and understood and observed by all employees. Day-to-day responsibility for promoting and implementing these Business Principles is delegated to the senior management of the Company. Compliance with these Business Principles is subject to review by the Board.

The Board of KDDI requires employees to bring to its attention, or to that of senior management, any breach or suspected breach of these Business Principles.

KDDI Code of Business Conduct
KDDI provides specific guidelines to be followed by each employee and officer; this KDDI Code of Business Conduct aims to successfully maintain our reputation as a reliable company both to society and people. This KDDI Code of Business Conduct applies to all officers and employees of KDDI.

All staff are required to understand the values underlying the Code, to comply with any related laws and regulations and internal rules including working rules, and to maintain a high standard of ethics. Each should work to avoid any situation where the antisocial behaviour of one renders as meaningless and vain the hard-working efforts of all.

It goes without saying that the good reputation of and high esteem granted to KDDI are heavily dependent upon the honest efforts of every staff member.
